I have been wanting to write a post about these guys for quite some time now. I was lucky enough to see the last show of their February residency at the Toff , thoroughly enjoyed it, and have just been waiting for them to do another headline gig. They recently supported Little John at the East Brunswick Club, but have finally announced that they will be playing at The Toff on July 6th.
The Magic Mountain Band make you feel like you’re going on an adventure. Their acoustic folk tunes carry you along on a pleasant weekend stroll through the forest, which makes the band name fantastically appropriate. The lack of vocals goes almost unnoticed due to the carefully sculpted interaction between all the musicians on stage and the whole vibe is just a little bit magical. You can have a listen to some of their tunes on the band’s myspace, like them on facebook and read all about them at magicmountainband.com.
Anyway, I really think you should all come down and check these guys out, as it seems to be quite a wait between gigs at the minute. Support act Blood Red Bird are in a similar vein – check out their tunes here.
When: July 6th, Doors at 730pm
Where: The Toff In Town, Swanston St, CBD

PS: If you can’t make it, Magic Mountain Band will also be appearing at the Post Office Hotel on Sydney Rd, next Sunday July 10th from 4pm. Get amongst it!
