You may know Adelaide’s Bad Dreems‘ track ‘Chills’, it reminisces of a summer spent in Adelaide, hot weather and not a whole lot to do. The quartet are back with some more ‘downer pop’ tunes for us to nod along to. ‘Too Old’ is a little more upbeat than what I was expecting, it’s got a great feel about it, good old guitar hooks that seem just right for the approaching warmer season. Check out Bad Dreems’ Bandcamp to pick up their tracks and scout out dates for their upcoming tour with Children Collide & Dune Rats.
Community Radio hail from Sydney, Surry Hills in fact. I first heard this tune on Circular Key, a great blog that focuses purely on music from Sydney. The track, ‘Terrible History’ is an overwhelmingly Australian. It’s got that kind of guitar that reminds you of ‘Before Too Long’ or ‘To Her Door’ by Paul Kelly. Anyway, keep up to date with Community Radio on thier Facebook or Soundcould. You can also download ‘Terrible History’ from the soundcloud link below. Terrible History by Community Radio
The Red Aces were an aerobatic fighter-jet team from the Philippines who formed in 1971 as a sister team to the elite Filipino Blue Diamonds. The original Red Aces aren’t around anymore, but Coburg’s Red Aces are definitely alive and well. The brothers play rock which will bring to mind the like of Editors and Interpol. ‘The End’ is Red Aces’ first single off their soon to be released EP. For show dates, check their Facebook.
SPARKSPITTER released their self titled EP earlier this year, personally I think it is an incredibly vibrant and complex listen. It’s mostly instrumental, with subdued hints of vocals. The layers upon layers of guitar and intricate percussion are executed in a display that warrants big expectations from these three guys from Adelaide. Have a listen to LAC AMNIS below, if you like it, I would really encourage you to listen/purchase the EP from their Bandcamp. You can also follow their movements on Facebook.
