“Created and constructed from one Australian summer to the next, the creation of their debut long-player Eora persisted through the extremities of the Australian bush; heat, humidity, cold, and rain to create a singular document vast and mysterious as the landscape it was created for.“
The words above, nail a description that’s hard to conjure, these words are of course referring to Eora, the debut record from The Blue Mountains’ Castratii. Complex, divulging and sensationally gloomy, Castratii have excelled, this is their finest moment yet. I’ve been spinning this record for the past few days now and it’s not even close to overstaying it’s welcome.
You can expect to see all sides of the rather secretive group in this release, including guest vocals throughout from The Duke Spirit’s Liela Moss. There are moments of drone, vast spacious ambiance and almost anthemic moments. It’s a no brainier that this record channels the very elements it is aims to deliver, the wilderness of Australia. ‘The Hanging’ is captivating, along with the lead single, ‘Kingdom’.
Eora is out on August 21 (vinyl + digital only) through Time No Place
