This new little segment is purely just a brief round up of some great releases that I’ve missed or been to lazy too post up of late. What better way to kick it off than with Adelaide’s Terrible Truths. I have been blown away by everything these guys have put out of late, I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of their split 7″ with Hissey Miyake. ‘Don Juan’ has been stuck in my head ever since it blasted in my room. A driving bass line, crooked guitar and super vocals are all highlights here.

Go Violets are from Brisbane. If Stonefield sounded like a mix between Day Ravies and Boomgates you would get the happy pop sounds of the Go Violets. I love the simplicity of ‘Runner’ it’s a great track, loose jangling guitar and everyone-pitch-in vocals, I hope this track propels into the blinding lights a bit more. Word on the street is they will have a debut release out for us later in the year, looking forward to hearing more from this talented lot.

I saw Velcro play the other night for the first time at the Love Connection farewell show. Curtis Wakeling has just released his first single of the Velcro forthcoming EP Wagga Wagga, out through Why Don’t You Believe Me? in early August. Bad news for us, he is moving to New York with Love Connection, so if you can catch Velcro before he jets off, I would highly recommended it. You can pick up a free download of ‘Portsea’ at Velcro’s bandcamp.
