All I Do Is Listen would like to congratulate KIMBRA on winning 1st place in the Pop Category of the International Songwriting Competition.

The International Songwriting Competition is exactly what it’s title suggests. Artists submit their songs to the panel who then announce finalists, whose songs are critiqued by a ridiculously qualified panel of artists and industry experts.

Australian music did pretty well this year with Kasey Chambers winning the overall competition as well as her category. The Basement Birds (supergroup of Josh Pyke, Bob Evans, Steve Parkin and Kav Temperly) won the Adult Album Alternative category, ahead of Megan Washington and Paul Dempsey picked up second place in the Adult Contemporary category for Bats. Children Collide won third place in the Rock category for Jellylegs, beaten to second by fellow Melbourne band The Chemist. Brisbane bands Inland Sea and My Fiction picked up 1st and 3rd respectively in the Unsigned category.

There are may other Australian artists who received honourable mentions – you can check out the full list of winners and honourable mentions here, as well as listen to their tracks.
