These topless chicks above are pointing to the direction they think music is heading to….. I think they are pretty spot on.
One of my favourite online blogs about new music, is no other than the brain child from Peter Lanceley, This Music Wins. This week, Pete released a pretty stellar compilation. The 17 tracks listed are in his mind, great examples of how the internet is affecting the collaboration of music across borders. He mentions the affect the internet has on the cross cultural gloablization of music which is a pretty interesting concept.
The songs listed below range in genre from shoegaze, post dubstep, electronic, yet there are some more washed out lo-fi tracks that are really cool. Matthew Dear – Slowdance (How To Dress Well Seance) is a particular favourite of mine along with Stag – Tired. Be sure to give those tracks a burl.
Fishing, Australia’s latest claim to fame in the electronic/experimental genre also features with the ultimate get-up-and-go track White Sheet Beach. Personally, this compilation is a great introduction to an ever growing genre that is particularly addictive!
Well done Pete. Look forward to more of what you put up. You can check out the original compilation at www.thismiusicwins.com. Worth a snoop.
